Ensuring a Healthy Oregon for Years to Come

Michele Goodman and Eric Wan

Michele Goodman and Eric Wan’s planned gift to the OEC’s Strategic Opportunity Fund allows OEC to evolve as it responds to threats to Oregon’s environment.

When Michele Goodman joined the board of Oregon Environmental Council (OEC) in 2005, she knew OEC had a long history of advocating for Oregon’s environment. She was excited to get involved and volunteer her time with a group that shares her love of Oregon and advocates for policies that protect this beautiful state.

Michele Goodman and Eric WanDuring her board tenure, she and her husband, Eric Wan, grew more passionate about OEC’s work and have been donors ever since. In addition to making annual gifts, they made an especially generous and lasting commitment in honor of OEC’s 50th Anniversary. Additionally, Michele is now serving on a volunteer task force to ensure that OEC has the resources needed to continue addressing the most urgent environmental problems we are facing.

“OEC has a lengthy list of accomplishments over its 50-plus years of work and continues to be an effective leader raising statewide awareness around the risks of climate change. We want to ensure that OEC is able to continue its great work for at least another 50-plus years and a planned gift is one way we can help.”

Michele and Eric’s gift to our Strategic Opportunity Fund enables OEC to respond to emerging threats or immediate opportunities directly related to the health of Oregon’s environment.

“When we heard about OEC’s Strategic Opportunity Fund, we realized its importance to OEC. Having money set aside in a fund for the purpose of being able to take on new work as critical environmental issues arise gives OEC the ability to pivot quickly. Being able to think ahead and support long-term stability in an already effective organization is important to us.”

OEC is deeply grateful to Michele and Eric for both their ongoing support and their commitment to the Strategic Opportunity Fund. Their gift allows OEC to continue growing and evolving as an organization in order to ensure a healthy environment for all Oregonians for years to come.

“From our perspective, there is no better time to reaffirm our commitment to OEC. OEC is working to address and mitigate the effects our changing climate has on the environment and human health. Eric and I hope that our gift gives OEC some added financial stability, and at the same time we hope that it gives them the flexibility to shift and adapt their work as new threats emerge.”

If you would like to join Michele and Eric as champions for Oregon’s environment, you can remember OEC with a gift in your will or other estate plan to help ensure a healthy and resilient environment for future generations.
